Altering from walking under shady areas to walking under the sun, this trail is going to be one of your favourites after you’ve done it.
Depending on the season, we will be able to see birds, butterflies, mushrooms and wild flowers. The views to the area of Argostoli, Lourdata and Zakynthos island along the way are breathtaking and of course the 360° view from the top will amaze you. The biggest part of the island will be visible together with the islands of Ithaca, Lefkas, Zakynthos and even mainland Greece!
In this trail we start from 1600 meters and in half an hour we will have stepped on the top of the mountain. Then we continue walking on the ridgeline. At some point we will have two options on the junction: The easy one is to walk towards Petasi cave and return. Petasi Cave was used as an ice storage by the British Army. The harder one is to start descending towards Nimfi cave, that was used as a hideaway by the Greek Partizans. We will meet a very beautiful spot called The Big Balcony of Ainos, where we will have the greatest view and a break. This trail is difficult, steep and quite rocky. Suggested only for experienced hikers.
